A Celebration of Friendship!

Last night we held a press and VIP night to celebrate our Friendship collection at our Sloane Square flagship store. Guests were treated to an evening of colourful cocktails and canapés while DJ duo Ooh La La; Zara Martin and Jade Williams provided some beautiful beats. Throughout the evening guests had fun with their friends in our photobooth (complete with wind machine) and our engravers were on hand for them to have their Friendship Bracelets monogrammed and inscribed with initials and messages of their choice.

We were thrilled with the turnout of guests who included Pixie Geldof, Henry Holland, Matthew Williamson, Caroline Flack, Edie Campbell, Bip Ling, Amber Atherton, Jack Fox and Jack Guinness, who came to celebrate our heritage as The Original Friendship creators and view the new explosion of colour and constructions!

It was also great to welcome many members of the press and media to the event, who brought their colleagues and friends to party the night away with us, in our colourful store complete with Original Friendship banners and bright rainbow hydrangeas.

We wanted to share pictures with you from the evening and hope you have enjoyed all of our Friendship activity over the past few months, including the introduction of new designs and constructions. Keep an eye out for new styles coming soon as we continue to develop and refresh the Links of London Friendship Collection! With more choice, enjoy the vibrant tones and new designs of these innovative styles from the brand that brought you the original Friendship Bracelet.

Our Movember collection has been very popular so far and it’s exciting to see you are all getting behind the cause! Shortlist have featured the collection in their Style section of the Notebook today and we loved their write up! What’s more we think that the image of Salvador Dali completes the piece perfectly!

Further on in the magazine our advertorial; “Go Beyond Growing A Moustache”, outlines the ways you can celebrate with us this month! We are holding in-store Movember events, with goodie bags and Brewdog ale on offer, plus there will be 10% discount on our collections and a free prize draw! We are Mo Runners!

On Sunday a few of us in head office took part in the Battersea Park Mo run! We ran 5k, complete with upper lip fuzz, to support Movember. It was a cold but beautifully sunny autumnal day which took the edge off the early (and slightly alien) Sunday morning wakeup call!

It was a great morning; we all survived to cross the finish line in respectable times to increase our on-going fundraising efforts for Movember! The bacon sandwiches and tea, which were ready for runners at the end, were definitely a bonus as we stood catching our breath and modelling our stylish tin foil capes!

Keep up to date with further fundraising efforts in HQ, and in stores, as we continue to try and raise as much money for Movember internally as we can. Last week saw the bake sale, the run this weekend and tonight we are holding a HQ quiz night! Talk to us on Twitter @Links_of_London #Links4Movember or Facebook us to let us know how you are taking part!

And don’t forget that we have our Movember collection which is a great way to treat yourselves whilst also raising money for prostate cancer as 10% of each sale goes to Movember!

Head Office MoBake Off!

We certainly got into the spirit of Movember by holding a MoBake sale today! The dreaded Monday morning commute was somehow a little easier as we carried our cake tins and tupperware boxes, filled with treats, into work in anticipation of 11am and the sugar rush that awaited!

And when that time came it certainly was a MoMonday filled with goodies; MoCookies, MoCupcakes, MoTarts and MoGingerbread to name a few. By far the most popular had to be the MoMillionaireShortbread made by our PR Manager, Gemma, complete with raspberries for eyes and green moustache icing!

We sold the cakes to raise money for Movember and we are pleased to say it has been a great success! Take a look at some of the photos below to get some inspiration and don’t forget to tweet us at @Links_of_London  #Links4Movember  or post on Facebook to let us know how you are getting involved this month!

Movember 2012 Product Launch

We are very excited to be supporting Movember for the second year running this year and yesterday we were at Soho House London for the product launch!

The month formerly known as November is when brave and selfless men around the world grow a moustache with the support of the women in their lives.  All in an effort to support men’s health charity; Movember.  Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, Movember has grown to become a global movement inspiring more than 1.9 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate. The charity is responsible for moustaches sprouting on the faces of men all over the world in the month of November. By encouraging real men to
grow real moustaches they raise awareness of real men’s health
issues – specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

Last year Links of London designed a limited edition pair of sterling silver
Moustache cufflinks and a Moustache charm to support the charity’s fundraising
efforts with a 10% donation from each sale.  For 2012 we have added a black leather cord and silver Moustache bracelet to extend the collection! We had a great morning yesterday launching the 2012 collection to press where guests were served Bloody Marys over breakfast and treated to moustache inspired nail art!

The collection will launch within exclusive UK stores and online this month. Stand tall this November and help to change the face of men’s health by joining the Movember journey!

An enchanting press preview of our AW12 collections

This week the PR team showcased our Autumn Winter 2012 collections to press. The event was a beautifully curated experience of jewellery and time pieces set in a magical atmosphere of enchantment and symbolism.

The press were invited to preview the stories behind the collections of AW12 as they stepped through the doors of 33 Portland Place. Displayed in a mystic and fairy-tale setting the pieces could be discovered within the rooms in which the Oscar winning Kings Speech was filmed! Set over two days the event was a captivating experience for the press to have a first look at the collections we will be launching between now and Christmas.

We transformed the Kings Speech rooms into a magical world filled with white butterflies, flickering church candles, birds’ nests and vintage books. As guests entered they were met by flurries of white blossom surrounding tables of glass bell jars filled with our watches and a wonderful harpist creating a tranquil atmosphere.

On entering the main room our new charm collection – Keepsakes – was revealed on rainbow mattresses of our Princess and the Pea bed and cascaded from the oversized wrought iron frame and wooden ladder which created the centrepiece for the exhibition.

Beautifully crafted birds’ nests of lavender, rosemary and eucalyptus leaves could be seen as guests entered. The birds had fled the nests and been replaced by our exquisite new gold collections. These provided a whimsical backdrop to the bed as they adorned a distressed and antique wall of peeled wallpaper. At one corner of the wall sat our MR MEN teepee – a child’s world of MR MEN charms, bracelets and silver gifts and at the other end, lit by a stunning art deco window of light, was our tube map platform depicting our new London Signature Cufflinks which are inspired by the architecture of London.

The large fireplace at the front of the room was lit in a peaceful glow with church candles and antique books were stacked either side and dressed with Men’s jewellery and Silver Gifts.

Guests were served apple, rhubarb and mint spritzers, finger sandwiches, mini croque monsieurs and mini strawberry pavlovas throughout the day while also sampling ornate gourmet marshmallows piled high on silver trays.
With a fabulous turnout and wonderful feedback from the press it was the perfect setting and showcase for Links of London’s enchanting new collections for AW12!

An Evening at the Sport Industry Awards 2012

Last night we attended the Sport Industry Awards at Battersea Evolution.
The evening celebrated and rewarded the best work carried out by those within the sports industry. It was a fantastic evening attended by many athletes, sports personalities and celebrities. Links of London were there to fly the flag for Team GB and spread the word even further about our Official Jewellery Collection of London 2012 and our must have hero piece –  the Team GB Band!
                                             2012  Team GB Band £20

We watched as the prestigious awards, such as Sport Brand of the Year, Sports Agency of the Year and the Lifetime Achievement award, were presented to the winners whilst also celebrating the year of London 2012. We were very excited to talk to the guests about our collection for the Games and delighted to spot many already sporting their Team GB Bands! It really was a night to celebrate sport and the integral part it plays in bringing not only individuals, but nations together. The more people who get behind our team this summer will enable us to have a winning chance to come together through sport and show our Genuine Belief for Team GB, our athletes and those who we personally support in our own circles.

Attendees at last night’s event were enthused and excited about the message behind our collection and were thrilled to be able to wear their Team GB Bands. Amongst the wearers last night was the host – former Rugby Union player; Martin Bayfield, Sally Gunnell – a former British Olympic champion in the 400m hurdles, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson who is considered to be one of the most successful disabled athletes in the UK, footballers; Darren Bent,
Michael Dawson and Gareth Southgate and Sir Philip Craven MBE who won the
Lifetime Achievement award. Sir Philip is the president of the International Paralympic Committee, member of the International Olympic Committee and a
retired Paralympian of wheelchair basketball. We also spotted celebrities such as Mark Wright, Kirsty Gallacher and Keith Lemon wearing Team GB Bands!

We were thrilled that Amy Williams MBE wore our limited edition Entwine VIP necklace and bracelet which are part of our Official Jewellery Collection of London 2012.  It was a big day for Amy as she announced her retirement from skeleton racing following a remarkable career in which she became the first British individual gold medallist at a Winter Olympics for 30 years. We thought she dazzled in the Entwine collection last night and wish her every success for the future!

McLaren Sport by Links of London Press Launch

Last night, we held the press launch of our McLaren Sport by Links of London collection at One Hyde Park, Knightsbridge. The event was a great success with the collection on show against a backdrop of fabulous cars.  On display we had a F1 showcar and the MP4-4 car as driven by Ayrton Senna during the 1988 F1 season! Tim Goss; Engineering Director at McLaren and Philippe Cogoli; Head of Men’s Jewellery & Watches were in conversation with our guest host Nargess Shamanesh Banks discussing the inspiration behind each jewellery piece of engineered art.

Drinks and canapés were served to the press while they browsed the collections and listened to the designers. A fantastic evening to celebrate our partnership with McLaren with this collection of exquisitely engineered men’s jewellery and accessories.
